Minehead is a seaside town on the North Somerset Coast, in the Bristol Channel. Its location is surrounded by the beautiful undulating Quantock Hills. On a very clear day you can see the coastline and mountains of South Wales. This long exposure was obtained using Lee Big Stopper 9 10 stop ND filter, the choppy sea has been calmed over a period of 70 seconds, and the clouds have natural blur. This breakwater groyne is one of many along the beach and they all have the distinctive green markers at the end. Another interesting feature on the north Somerset coast is the nuclear power plant Hinckley Point which is east of this location. Available as canvas, prints and iPhone covers

Cawfield Quarry is situated in Northumberland and is part of Hadrian's Wall. The Romans built in honour of the emperor, who had not at this point visited Britain. Construction began circa 122AD. The wall is 73 miles from Bowness in Solway to Wallsend in Tyneside. It was built as defence wall to keep out the Scottish Picts, with 16 forts along its length. Just at the start of this small walk along the length at Cawfields is Milecastle 42, I wanted to experiment post processing using the graduated filters in Lightroom, and quite liked the aqua against the purple. This photograph was taken upon the return to the car park, i wanted to get an image of the quarry, before it started to rain. The clouds have mood against the sharp edge of the quarry. Available as canvas, posters and prints A view from the Pennine Way to Black Hill. This view of the valley with Great Crowden Brook leading down the the Torside and Woodhead Reservoirs. Bleaklow in the Longendale valley is on the horizon, with a misty haze. The clouds are brooding over the scene. Crowden lies along the Woodhead Pass from Sheffield to Manchester. For many walkers this is the second day to completing the Pennine Way, starts out in Edale, at the foot of Kinder Scout. Crowden has a youth Hostel plus a campng and caravan site. This particular walk to Black Hill ascends to above 1800ft. Available in canvas, prints and cards |
