Tree Tops at Torside Reservoir. The tree tops here were inviting, and the directional flow of the clouds has given a sense of symmetry and a minimalistic view, only broken by the hill side. This long exposure was a mammoth 8 minutes after the sun had set. The tree tops have stayed sharp and in focus. The clouds have a zoomed effect through the passing of time. The water has a glass effect almost like unbroken ice. I had momentary sense of doom when two mallards swam across the scene, around the tree twigs. the long exposure has taken care of that and totally excluded them as if they did not exist, only I know the truth. Torside Reservoir near Glossop in the Derbyshire Peaks. This is true to the white balance, the clouds having orangey - red fringing from the setting sun, with its grey rippling underbelly The sunset colours have been reflected along the water, with the rocks and tree tops creating the foreground interest. Torside is opposed on both side by Woodhead Reservoir and Bottoms Reservoir. Available as canvas, prints and cards Torside Reservoir in Derbyshire Peak District. I wanted a landscape format of the reservoir, and keeping the rocks and trees in the foreground. The black and white conversion gives a serene minimalistic look. It was remarkably peaceful waiting for the right moments to take the photographs, there is more cloud cover and for the long exposure has a great blur. Available as canvas, prints and cards Torside Reservoir in the Derbyshire Peak District, near Glossop. The sunset is approaching, and the clouds are moving quite quickly and therefore the scene is primed for long exposure. It is still quite a minimalistic image even in this colour version, however the blues and the subtle oranges and yellows of the sun setting behind the clouds have come through. The reservoir appears to be quite full, as the the trees tops are poking out of the surface of the water. There must be a shear drop just beyond the rocks, chose to sit just on the grassy edge. There is a car park on the opposite side of the road from here, which has mapped out a walk to Bleaklow. There appears to be very little walks along this part of the reservoir. There a couple of stops along the road to Glossop which you can get to other parts. Available in canvas, prints and phone covers Torside Reservoir along the Woodhead Pass in the Derbyshire Peak District. I passed along the this body of water on my way back through to Sheffield via Glossop. I found this scene along the windy B1005 road and found it simply beautiful. I made a return journey and found this spot near just a little walk from the Glossop Sailing Club. It was nearing sunset. The colour version of this was been converted to black and white, as it lends itself to having a minimalistic quality. The trees poking throught the water and their reflections, along with the rocks add foreground interest. The hills on the horizon in partial silouette, with the sweeping clouds, adding an 'S' shape to the picture that compliment the foreground. Although I am not a fan of the electricity pylons, the add interest to the the horizon. Available in canvas, prints and phone covers. |
