Seeded Allium I

Seeded Allium I
First of a triptych

Working in continuous light, I have some dried Alium flower heads that had gone to seed. I was looking to have the heads pictured with their single stems, however I decided  to get more creative, I got in close and used a shallow depth of field to bring the character of the seed pods to the fore, whilst creating enough blur/bokeh on the pod stems to draw in the eye or have them appear to pop out of the page.
A monochrome conversion has given a fine art appearance, simple photograph with a minimalistic feel.

Available as canvas, prints and phone cases.

Third of a triptych

The final image in this tritych is a third variety of Allium. I bought a selection of mixed bulbs and planted them, however the packet did not divulge the variety types. This photograph has such character, like a cheeky kitten has popped up its head saying 'What are you looking at?'
The seeds look like tiny black pepper corns. It is amazing how they are still inside the little pods, considering they have been drying since the middle of summer. I do hope the bulbs survived a re-planting and the winter.

Second of a triptych

This second Allium head which is a different variety from the first has a ballerina quality to the pods sepals, looking like they are pirouetting across the page. They are delicate even when they are dried they still have a sense of movement.
The continuous lighting diffuses the shadows, and using a wider aperture for creative depth of field.

Available as canvas, prints or phone cases.

Upper Burbage Winter Pastel Sunset

A wonderful dusky pink sky from the reflected light post sunset, almost dusk. The view is of Upper Burbage, with Higger Tor and Burbage Edge, and way off onto the horizon a little of Stanage Edge. This whole area is very popular with walkers, cyclists and climbers, not to mention photographers. It is the gateway to the Peak District from Sheffield and is part of the Longshaw Estate. This view is from Lawrence Field. Little with boulders and hawthorn and this field lies between Surprise View and Burbage Brook which flows the beautiful Padley Gorge.

Hathersage Moor After Sunset

A wide angle and landscape perspective of the winter landscape, with a little mist setting in the distance towards the Hope Valley. The view from Lawrence Field is looking out towards the Hope Valley after the sun has set.  The snow covered heather will grass popping out adds texture to the scene. Th snow still reflecting the blue light from the sky.
The site has a stone circle although I have never managed to locate it.
This area is extremely popular for Padley Gorge, and the walks to Higger Tor in Upper Burbage.

Available as canvas, prints and phone case.
