Sheffield Victoria Quays

I have been sitting around lately procrastinating about night time photography. My partner came along with me and suggested we go to Victoria Quays. Well, I was stunned. The water was like a mirror and the Straddle to which I sometimes see along the Parkway is very much a mulitcoloured feature, with it's rapidly changing spectrum of lights.  My partner was my brolly holder, deflecting the street lighting away from the camera to reduce any lens flare.

Available as canvas, prints and phone cases.

However it is hugely popular and remains one of Sheffield's greatest icons. I wanted to capture the lights through a long exposure. I was lucky as two trams were passing over the bridge in opposite directions adding more light intensity. I have lifted some shadows to bring out texture in the sky, the clouds were clearing. Damflask Monochrome Sunset

Damflask Monochrome Sunset

The jetty just resting out on the reservoir and the sun having just set. A monochrome conversion in the Ansell Adams style, with darkened blues and strong highlights.
The jetty has a wonderful character; it is not very long and it is sloping to the right, it does not mind as it admires the setting sun looking out the valley beyond the waters edge. It has served its purpose for the day, all the sailors have packed up amid the failing light.

Available as canvas, prints and phone covers.
