![]() Cawfield Quarry is situated in Northumberland and is part of Hadrian's Wall. The Romans built in honour of the emperor, who had not at this point visited Britain. Construction began circa 122AD. The wall is 73 miles from Bowness in Solway to Wallsend in Tyneside. It was built as defence wall to keep out the Scottish Picts, with 16 forts along its length. Just at the start of this small walk along the length at Cawfields is Milecastle 42, I wanted to experiment post processing using the graduated filters in Lightroom, and quite liked the aqua against the purple. This photograph was taken upon the return to the car park, i wanted to get an image of the quarry, before it started to rain. The clouds have mood against the sharp edge of the quarry. Available as canvas, posters and prints
