New Bridge at Calver
We were on our way back from Chelmorton near Tideswell and Cressbrook, and decided to stop off at this bridge, a very sharp bend in the road at the start of the bridge from Calver to Sheffield. New Bridge was built in 1781 to connect Sheffield to Calver turnpike. The bridge spans the River Derwent. Just beyond the bridge is the Calver Weir built in 1840's to raise the water level for the wetland habitats further upstream. Froggatt Edge features upon the horizon. Available as canvas, prints and phone cases. Please click on the image for further details.
